When I write my own recipes, I write them for an ADHD disaster without executive functioning, because that’s what I am. Not only do they have a written ingredient list, they also come with an explicit equipment list. The entire thing is written strictly chronologically and unambiguously, so you can follow it line by line. It even tells you exactly how much of each ingredient to add at each step so you don’t have to move your eyes back to the ingredient list and lose your place. I even put instructions for what equipment to ready at each step, and when it’s okay to drop utensils or bowls in the sink. It’s a lot of work but it’s really the only painless way for me to cook.
